Turkey, Iraq Threaten “Military Intervention” As Iraqi Kurds Hold Independence Referendum

Shortly after Russia disclosed on Sunday that a top Russian military commander, Lieutenant General Valery Asapov – who was serving as one of Russia’s “military advisers” in Syria – was fatally wounded by an exploding shell in a mortar attack by ISIS terrorists, on Monday the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the “two-faced policy” of the United States was to blame for the death of the Russian General in Syria.

HERE IS MY ORIGINAL POST FROM LAST NIGHT.

The grand American experiment to “save” Iraq is about to undergo the final phase. The Kurds have, over the last 30 years cut out their long sought after Kurdistan. Granted, Kurdistan, as the Kurds see it, includes Northern Iraq, a chunk of Iran, the Northeastern part of Syria, and much of eastern Turkey. Obviously, Turkey, Syria and Iran aren’t interested in seeing chunks of their country became an independent Kurdish state. On the other hand, short of military conquest, Iran, Turkey and Syria have no options.

The Kurds are going to have a vote on Monday, September 25th, to declare open independence from Iraq. The Shia in Baghdad, who now control all of Iraq except the Kurdish parts, have said they won’t allow that. Well, the Shia armed militias, the only real military force in Iraq, other than the Sunni and the Kurdish Peshmerga, will follow orders from Tehran to prevent this. The farce called the Iraq Army won’t even be in the equation. When the Armed Shia Militias, which are loaned to the Baghdad central government by Iran, attempt to use military force to prevent Kurdish independence, well KABOOM.

The link below tells us that Iraq’s central government in Baghdad has already taken the first step towards an all out civil war between the Armed Shia militias, the Iraqi Army, and possibly the Sunni fighters against the Kurdish Peshmerga. The Peshmerga has received major US, Russian and NATO military support since 2014 to fight ISIS. Further, the Peshmerga has looted multiple military bases abandoned by the farce known as the Iraqi Army. Finally, Turkey is deploying armor and mechanized infantry forces on its eastern border with Kurdistan. Now, what could go wrong with all that happening? Does the Baghdad government really think the Kurds are going to obey that order?

Baghdad orders Kurdistan region to hand over borders, ports

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s central government in Baghdad ordered the country’s Kurdish region to hand over all border crossings and airports to federal government control late Sunday night, hours before the region is set to carry out a controversial referendum on support for independence.

The referendum is set to be held Monday in the three provinces that make up the Kurdistan region as well as dozens of towns and villages that are disputed, claimed by both Baghdad and the country’s Kurds, including the oil-rich city of Kirkuk.

Here is another link that gives the Kurdish viewpoint.
