MY DAD GETS FRENCH MEDAL FOR WORLD WAR TWO DUTY
I had the honor to attend a ceremony where the Oregon French Consul presented my 94 year old dad a medal for services rendered to France during World War Two. The so called greatest generation is pretty much gone now. Still, my dad is a bona fide war hero.

Jay McIntosh, a Beaverton resident and World War II veteran, will receive the French Legion of Honor Friday in a ceremony at Oregon Historical Society.
The 3 p.m. ceremony, free and open to the public, will be held in the society’s pavilion, 1200 S.W. Park Ave., Portland.
McIntosh, 94, will receive his medal from the Honorary French Consul for Oregon. He served as a B-17 pilot in the 94th Bombardment Group.
McIntosh and his crew flew missions over southern France to drop “food, supplies, ammunition and guns to the French resistance forces,” society officials said in an email.
Attendees are invited after the ceremony to tour the society’s current display, “World War II: A World at War, A State Transformed,” on display through Dec. 7.
