This is a cross post of a thread Doomer Doug started at timebomb2000.com a few minutes ago. pay attention to the video at the end. Okay the video didn’t make it from the original thread. It was a report on Turkish authorities arresting members of the Syrian opposition with a 2 kilogram container of Sarin nerve gas for use in Syria. It is at this url at the bottom of the thread.

WAR WARNING. Syrian no fly zone to be declared 6-13-2013

This is it, gang. Obama, the neocons and Israel want a war with Syria and they will get it.
The no fly zone will take one month to put in place. Russia will never tolerate it. Period.
Doomer Doug cross posted the full White House statement on his blog from zerohedge.com
This is it, gang. We WILL get a war out of this. Russia has made it clear they will not tolerate western intervention in Syria. They have ships in Cyprus to make that clear. They are deploying advanced anti-aircraft missiles to make that clear. They offered to replace the departing Austrian UN troops on the Golan heights to make that clear.
I guess when the Backfire bombers start buzzing Washington, DC maybe Obama will figure it out. We are looking at war in the middle east by July 4th, assuming the no fly zone is announced soon.
    Consider yourself warned.

Syria: US says Assad regime used chemical weapons

The United States has confirmed that the Assad regime in Syria has used chemical weapons against opposition targets, in a move that now paves the way for a sharp increase in military support to rebel fighters.

By Peter Foster, Washington and Jon Swaine in New York
    11:47PM BST 13 June 2013
    The Telegraph Group

The determination by US intelligence agencies that chemical weapons including Sarin gas have lead to the deaths of up to 150 people, comes as new figures from the United Nations estimates that 93,000 people have now died in the conflict.

Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser, signalled that the finding had opened a new phase in US engagement in the civil war, after a week in which the Assad regimes Iranian-backed forces have made alarming gains from the rebels.

The president has said that the use of chemical weapons would change his calculus, and it has, said Mr Rhodes.

The US move significantly raises the stakes at next weeks British-chaired G8 meeting in Northern Ireland where Syria was already expected to be a lead topic of debate on the sidelines.

The administration added that it had yet to decide precisely how to respond to its findings, which are to be formally notified to the United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon and the Russian president Vladimir Putin, but promised a step-change in support to the rebels.

Among the options being considered is a highly limited no-fly zone that would give cover to rebel training operation in Jordan, administration officials told the Wall Street Journal.

The zone would only encroach 25 miles into Syrian territory and, crucially, would not require pre-emptive strikes against Syria’s sophisticated Russian air-defence systems.

It would also not need UN authorisation sure to be vetoed by Moscow because it would not require the US or its allies to stray regularly into, or to hold, Syrian airspace, the officials added.

The president has made a decision on providing more support to Syrian opposition. This includes military support, Mr Rhodes said, declining to provide specifics. Suffice it to say, it will be different in both scope and scale to what we were providing before.

Asked whether Mr Obama had decided to arm the rebels but was delaying an announcement until securing international and congressional support, Mr Rhodes said: The president has made his decision and there is not a delay for those reasons.

Mr Rhodes repeatedly declined to provide an inventory of equipment that would be delivered but added: There are a number of challenges we want to help the opposition address. One of these is their effectiveness as a fighting force.

Until now, the White House has rebuffed requests to provide direct military support to the rebels, confining itself to providing food and medicines, fearing that weapons could fall into the hands of the Islamist rebel groups with links to al-Qaeda.

However Mr Rhodes conceded that the fall of the strategically vital city of Qusayr a week ago, and the massing of regime forces ahead of an assault on the central provinces of Homs and Hama, had created a new sense of urgency.

Mr Rhodes did not specify what kind of military support would be provided, however prior to the announcement sources in Washington told The Daily Telegraph that the paperwork was ready to provide additional non-lethal military supplies.

These are expected to including communications equipment, satellite phones and logistical support, including heavy trucks and that the flow could begin by midsummer. It was not clear last night whether the supply of this materiel will now be expedited.

The announcement from the Obama administration comes after weeks of mounting pressure to intervene in Syria, as the Assad regime makes military gains and the rebel forces threaten to turn on each other in a Sunni-Shia sectarian conflict that could spill across borders.

Senator John McCain, long Washington’s most vocal advocate for intervention in Syria, said on the Senate floor last night that he had been informed by well-placed sources that Mr Obama had decided to provide the opposition with arms.

He warned, however, that the president would need to do more to make a significant difference in the civil war. Just to provide weapons to the Syrian National army is not enough, Mr McCain said.

Analysis: US responds after Iran threw down gauntlet on Syria

By sending in Hizbollah to take the Syrian town of Qusayr and, it seems increasingly likely, its own troops, Iran threw down the gauntlet to America this month: is it in this war, or not?

By Richard Spencer, Middle East Correspondent
    11:56PM BST 13 June 2013
    The Telegraph Group

The mercurial Russian president, Vladimir Putin, is a more difficult man to read. But by not calling off his Middle Eastern allies, despite the promise of an American-backed Geneva peace conference, he essentially did the same.

President Barack Obama has spent two years trying to avoid this choice.

Like many of his countrymen, and many Europeans, he likes neither side. He does not want to be seen to merely to be supporting the Sunni Muslim world in a sectarian battle with the Shia. But once the gauntlet had been thrown down, few of his strategic advisers would let it rest there.

To allow Russia and Iran to back their man in reconquering Syria would be a stunning blow for the United States, when Mr Obama had specifically said that President Bashar al-Assad had no place in Syria’s future.

The headline news from the latest Washington briefings is that the Americans, after a period of equivocation, are now fully behind the British and French assessments that Mr Assad has used chemical weapons against his own people.

The underlying message that Mr Obama’s “red line” has been crossed was spelled out. What was not clearly defined was the nature of the response, what new assistance, “different in scope and scale”, the US will be providing to the opposition.

In the first instance, it will not be militarily “game-changing”, it would seem. There might be a very limited no-fly zone, but only in the far south, where the rebels do not exercise uncontested sway over large areas. There will be help with transport and logistics. There is an implication no more than that that the rebels’ Gulf allies might be encouraged to resume sending in heavier weapons than Kalashnikovs, after a hold was demanded out of fear they would end up in the hands of jihadists.

There is nothing unequivocal, and Mr Obama, even at this stage, has allowed himself room to back off. He almost certainly still wants to see a peace conference take place and he will hope that this announcement will restore the diplomatic balance if it takes place to where it was before Qusayr fell.

But it is hard to see how he can now allow Russia and Iran, and by extension Mr Assad, dictate the future of Syria. And that means he has to put American might behind his own alternative, whatever that might be.

Sorry. Putin has made his position very clear. The fact we fail to take him seriously means we will see a war. There is no such thing as a “limited no fly zone.” The USA will use Jordan to train and equip Muslim terrorists who will then attack Syria from the south. Russia and Syria will NOT tolerate this.
Russia got burned on Libya. It is a case of “fool me once shame on you, but fool me twice shame on me.”
This means war. People need to understand that. Regarding the use of chemical weapons IT WAS THE SYRIAN REBELS WHO USED THEM.

Doomer is right on the money with this one.

Perhaps the USA should get some of its teeth kicked down its throat this time?!
    Ya’ think?!!

How is the civil war in Syria any concern of the USA?

    Answer: it is not.

Please note the underlined part about Israel in Doomer’s post.
This is a war to remove Assayd and in turn remove Israel’s enemy in Lebanon, Hezbollah.
It is also a war that will unfold to knock Syria out of the way prior to the war upon Iran.
Something else we have no business being involved in.

What you are seeing now is the direct product of AIPAC and other Israeli lobbying insterests.
Who do you think John McShame’s strings are pulled by?
Why do you think Senator Sodomite thinks the way he does?
Who is pumping millions of dollars into these twits campaign funds via a zillion sources?
Just whom is purchasing our government officials by the score.

Also… as this conflict escalates and grows to a head, so will the troubles/scandals in DC–and it will be intended to distract attention from this.

Most likely it will errupt into a shooting war with Russia (the good guys), and when we get some teeth kicked down our throats, perhaps, just perhaps people will begin to wake up… maybe, just maybe they will in time.

Russia is not going to back down–keep this in mind.
There will be no massing of troops like in Iraq.
There will be no mass tank battles. No replays of the Battle Of Midway.
Instead our bases and troops will be hit by waves of tactical nuclear weapons.
This all is going to unfold in Russia’s backyard FYI.

We could start seeing actual Islamic Jihad terrorist attacks in the US any time now due to this. Maybe the decision to ratchet up in Syria was politically motivated to get the US looking away from the WH. It should be obvious to the adminstration that this decision to escalate and directly involve the US in Syria will result in violence against Americans and westerners world wide and more specifically in the US. I would guess that this is wanted by the WH, that they are praying to Allah for swift American deaths that might save them from having to leave their ill gotten station in DC. The timing is disgustingly transparent, if the administration isn’t. They are fools, the world knows what they are up to, this also gives Islamic Jihad a fresh excuse to attack on American soil.

Russia is not going to stand by for this, they will use proxys at first. We could be seeing the beginning of WWIII.

From post #3 by Richard Spencer:

He almost certainly still wants to see a peace conference take place

Of course Obama wants a Peace Conference. That self serving, illiterate asshole will try anything, including provoking a dangerous new war, that will allow him to emerge as the pious holy man and good will ambassador. Obama may or may not actually care about gas weapons in Syria or the long term view of Assad’s blood soaked Presidency. You can be absolutely certain that his actions and decisions will be designed solely with HIS glory and legacy in mind.

I apologize for a really nasty linguistic expression but this situation really frosts my sensibilities and judgement big time.

The wag the dog syndrome existed long before the movie. The movie was a fantastic example of black humor and brutal cynicism by the way.
The best example of real wag the dog was the British invasion of the Falkland Islands in the early 1980s. The brutal military government in Argentina was close to collapse and was unsure how to deal with a planned march by tens of thousands of mothers, sisters and daughters of the people the military government had drugged, put on planes and dumped out in the Atlantic in the middle of the night. The military government decided to take over the Falkland islands to divert the public from the planned march. Again, the march would have brought the government down. The invasion failed miserably. The result was everybody else in Argentina got ticked and the military government collapsed.
Obama, his zionist and neocon and rino supporters are terrified that if they do not distract the American people from the various scandals they will go down in flames. They are using the “red line” to do what the Argentine military government tried to do with the Falklands invasion 30 years ago. They will fail.

The dismal and brutal record of the Syrian opposition is well known. The neo cons have no illusions on that. Make no mistake about one thing. This will mean war with Russia, Hezzbollah, Syria and Iran. Syria and Assad junior will LAUNCH MISSILES TIPPED WITH CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS ON ISRAEL IN RESPONSE TO THIS NO FLY ZONE. THEY HAVE SAID THIS REPEATEDLY OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS.
We are looking at a real war here. It could happen by July 4th depending on how fast things start to happen in Jordan. Most of the military assets are in place in Jordan right now. It won’t take long to fly over a few dozen cargo planes to Amman and start to unload stuff.
We are not on the edge anymore. We are over the edge and hanging on to the shrub just like Wiley Coyote.
Thanks for the kind words Joy!
You all realize that nobody lives forever. We will like the poem goes: “This spoke brave Horatorius, Captain of the Gate. All men die soon or late. what better way to die than facing fearsome odds, in defense of the ashes of our fathers and the temples of our gods.”
This is it, gang. Nobody, not Russia, not Syria, not Israel, not Hezzbollah, not Iran, not the neocons is going to back off. ONCE THE NO FLY ZONE IS OFFICIALLY IMPLEMENTED IT IS ALL OVER.

I find the linguistic expression of ‘a highly limited no-fly zone’ to be highly amusing, along the lines of a ‘limited, modified hang out’, and ‘kinda, sorta, a little bit pregnant’.
The brighter bulbs in the Obama chandelier may dim this concept and policy before it becomes another embarrassment to the Obama Administration. If such a policy is not enforced, the US will look even weaker than now, and if the policy is enforced, the initiative for response will be with Assad. And could quickly involve a shooting war between Russians and Americans…and then between all kinds of folks all around the world.

Doomer Doug puts it in the same class as the Vietnam definition of retreat as a “strategic redeployment to the rear.”
obama and his neocon buddies have no idea what they are getting into. If nothing else the USA military is overextended and unable to deploy significant assets to Jordan. And don’t forget that Iran will call on its buddies in North Korea to yank our chain in the Pacific to prevent us from taking many military assets from there also.
obama is a MORON. If anybody had any doubts there is NO difference on economic or foreign imperial policy between the Democrats and the RINOs just watch Obama, Graham and MCcain open their mouths and spew the rhetoric about the Syrian freedom fighters. Neocon warmongers the lot of them.
